There is no resource more important than soil. It provides unfathomable quantities of environmental services, from securing the water we drink to producing the food we eat.

Yet, soils are in danger. It can be difficult to find soil that hasn't been degraded by human land-management practices. While many people aren't even aware of the degradation that surrounds them, a trained soil scientist like me, reads the soil and sees its degradation everywhere.

This is why I am endlessly passionate about soil.

I studied Environmental Sciences at Humboldt State University in Northern California. I took classes focusing on Soil Science such as Wetland Soils, Soil Taxonomy, Rangeland Soils, and others.
